Chad Poppleton
Chad Poppleton has been passionate about art and the outdoors for as long as he can remember. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration from Utah State University, studying under Glen Edwards, and continues to study the classical works of the Impressionists and Renaissance masters.
In 2018, Poppleton realized a lifelong goal with his induction into the Cowboy Artists of America. He has been featured in Sporting Classics, Art of the West, Western Art Collector, and Southwest Art magazine. He is also a member of the C. M. Russell Museum’s Skull Society of Artists. Poppleton exhibits at the C. M. Russell Museum in Great Falls, Montana; the National Museum of Wildlife Art; and participates in premier auctions such as the Scottsdale Art Auction and the Jackson Hole Art Auction.
A recipient of the Bob Kuhn Wildlife Award from the National Museum of Wildlife Art, Poppleton strives to represent wildlife with accuracy and authenticity. “As an artist, my objective is to represent the subjects of wildlife correctly and accurately to the best of my ability. It’s critically important for me to pick up each little difference in nature and portray that in the canvas to engage the viewer emotionally within the piece.” An avid sportsman and conservationist, he spends as much time in the field as in the studio. His paintings reflect his deep connection to animals, wilderness areas, and the natural world.
