Dave LaMure Jr. has had a studio in Idaho for thirty-two years. His uncle inspired Dave with a bag of clay at the age of twelve. Then Dave took a clay workshop at a museum which stirred a lifetime passion with art. Dave's contemporary wildlife vessel caught Sophia Loren's eye and she awarded him best of show.
The director of the Herrett Museum stated, “David has managed to mix the warmth of his technique with contemporary forms which creates pieces that are dynamic and commanding.” Balancing art forms have taken Dave a lifetime; from his monumental public bronze sculptures to his oil canvases. Inspiration was absorbed from being a wilderness river guide and a continuing outdoorsman. Dave explores his art narratives in the natural rhythms of life, death and belonging. Dave is a member of the National Sculpture Society. He was inducted into the Society of Animal Artists and is passionate about promoting excellence with animals in art. The mayor of Fountain Hills, Arizona claims Dave’s life size bronze of red tailed hawks are the most photographed public work in their sculpture park.
A few notable achievements and exhibitions include: a monumental bronze of a surveyor at city hall in Twin Falls, Idaho; National Sculpture Society‘s 87th annual Prize winners exhibit in New York; National Museum of Wildlife Art Jackson, Wyoming; Buffalo Bill Museum Cody, Wyoming ; Art and Soul 1st place award and HGTV “Modern Masters”.
A current bronze trout sculpture will be dedicated in Colorado in spring of 2022.
