Collection: LaMure, Jr. Dave

Dave LaMure Jr. has had a studio in the Magic Valley of Idaho, where the Great Basin meets the southern cliffs of the Snake River, for thirty-two years. Dave’s Uncle Tom inspired him with a bag of clay at the age of twelve; from there it was a clay workshop at the Roswell Museum in New Mexico. LaMure’s art passion overshadowed a degree in business management, and his sculpted wildlife vessels caught the eye of Sophia Loren, who awarded him Best of Show, an honor that came with a kiss.

From monumental public bronze sculptures to large oil canvases, a consistent theme of LaMure’s work is inspiring not just an appreciation of the physical beauty of a work of art but an appreciation for the symbiosis between humans and the rest of the natural world.

LaMure derives inspiration from being a wilderness river guide and avid outdoorsman. LaMure is a member of the National Sculpture Society and the Society of Animal Artists, and he shares their passion to promote excellence in the portrayal of animals in art.

LaMure’s recent awards include a 2023 Masters of the American West Award; Artist’s Choice Award at the 2022 Briscoe Western Art Museum’s Night of Artists; and First Place at Art and Soul of Magic Valley in July 2022. He showed at the 62nd Annual Exhibition of the Society of Animal Artists in 2022.
