Collection: Kingery, Brenda

Brenda Kingery is a Chickasaw artist. Her work has been described as narrative symbolism. Kingery is originally from Oklahoma, and has a degree in Fine Arts and a Masters from University of Oklahoma. She also attended University of Ryukyus in Okinawa, Japan in a post-graduate program in Fine Arts. Kingery also taught Fine Arts for University of Maryland’s Far East division while in Okinawa. While in San Antonio, Brenda taught Art Appreciation for San Antonio College.

Brenda is a founding member of “Threads of Blessing” an organization teaching textile design in Honduras, Mexico, Uganda, and Haiti. Brenda was appointed by the President of the United States to the Board of IAIA, the Institute of American Indian and Alaska Natives in Arts and Culture.

Recently, the Chickasaw Nation honored Kingery into the Chickasaw Hall of Fame. She also received Arts and Letters Humanitarian Award by the San Antonio Library Association. She is represented by Orenda Art International, Paris; Susan Calloway Gallery, Washington, D.C.; Parchman Stremmel Gallery, San Antonio; and M.A. Doran Gallery, Tulsa.
