Collection: Kingery, Brenda
Brenda Kingery is a Chickasaw artist from Oklahoma whose work has been described as narrative symbolism. Kingery holds fine art degrees from University of Oklahoma, attended postgraduate programs at the University of the Ryukyus in Okinawa, Japan, and taught art for the University of Maryland.
Kingery is a founding member of Threads of Blessing, an organization that teaches textile design in Honduras, Mexico, Haiti, and Uganda. She was appointed by the president of the United States to the board of the Institute of American Indian and Alaska Native Culture and Arts Development.
The Chickasaw Nation has inducted Kingery into its hall of fame. Exhibitions of her work have been held at the Cahoon Museum of American Art, Cotuit, Massachusetts; Orenda Art International, Paris; Mississippi Museum of Modern Art, Jackson; Glenn Green Gallery, Santa Fe; Salon d’Automne, Paris; Chickasaw Cultural Center, Sulfur, Oklahoma; Choctaw Cultural Center, Calera, Oklahoma; M. A. Doran Gallery, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Autry Museum of the American West, Los Angeles; Night of Artists, Briscoe Western Art Museum, San Antonio; and Hunt Gallery, San Antonio.
Kingery is represented by Orenda Art International, Paris; Calloway Fine Art, Washington, DC; M.A. Doran Gallery, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Glenn Green Galleries, Santa Fe; Hunt Gallery, San Antonio; and Exhibit C, Oklahoma City.
