Collection: Jerry Jordan

Jerry Jordan
Born in 1944 into a West Texas farming family, Jerry Jordan was raised in a churchgoing Pentecostal household filled with music and singing. His first encounter with art came at age thirteen when his mother gave him a paint-by-numbers set. After completing it, he used the leftover paint to create his first original works.
Jordan first visited Taos in the summer of 1963 and was captivated by early 20th-century Taos painters he saw at the Kachina Lodge, through whose lens he first appreciated the region’s landscape.
His artistic journey was unconventional. Jordan took a ten-year hiatus from painting to pursue a career in music, touring the United States with his wife, brother, and sister-in-law, recording multiple albums. His comedy monologue, A Phone Call From God, reached #1 on the Billboard charts in June 1975 and became a beloved classic. In 1976, he was named Comic of the Year by the Billboard Country Music Awards.
Today, Jordan continues to draw inspiration from the Taos masters. His vivid paintings capture not only the landscapes and Pueblo life of Taos but also the essence and spirit of the region. Through masterful use of color and expressive brushwork, his works are imbued with texture and life, offering viewers a deeply immersive experience.
