Collection: Matthew Hillier

Matthew Hillier

Matthew Hillier was born and raised on the south coast of England. He studied wildlife illustration at an art college in Wales and subsequently spent many years illustrating books and magazines before fully devoting himself to a career as a fine artist.

Hillier moved to the United States in 2000 and settled on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, where he resides with his wife, artist Julia Noffsinger Rogers, and their family. A multi–award-winning artist in both the United States and Great Britain, he is best known for his marine and wildlife paintings. In addition to his studio practice, he is an enthusiastic teacher who frequently leads workshops around the country. He has been a featured artist at the Waterfowl Festival in Easton, Maryland, and is an active member of the American Society of Marine Artists and the Society of Animal Artists.

Hillier travels widely in search of inspiration, having spent extended periods in Southeast Asia and Africa. He works primarily in oil.
