C. Michael Dudash

C. Michael Dudash was born in 1952 in Mankato, Minnesota, and later settled in the Green Mountains of Vermont, where he began his career as an artist and oil painter in 1977. Trained in the fine arts, he established a national reputation through his work in classic illustration. After twenty-five successful years in that field, he transitioned to full-time fine art painting in 2002 and subsequently moved West.

Dudash soon began selling his work through leading Western galleries and earned prominent placement in major museum exhibitions and national auctions. His paintings have been featured in notable venues such as the Prix de West Invitational, the C.M. Russell Museum, the Briscoe Western Art Museum, the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art, the Scottsdale Art Auction, and the Coeur d’Alene Art Auction.

His work has appeared in numerous publications, including Art of the West, Southwest Art, Western Art Collector, American Artist, and Artists Magazine. Hundreds of private collectors and corporations hold his paintings in their permanent collections, as do the Booth Museum, the James Museum of Western and Wildlife Art, and the Briscoe Western Art Museum. In 2016, Dudash was inducted into the Cowboy Artists of America.

He lives near Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, with his wife, Valerie.
