A lifelong outdoorsman and painter, Jim Bortz relates his unique experiences in the field through his art. Adventures in fly fishing, elk hunting, and backcountry camping all lend an unmistakable authenticity in Bortz’ work. With a bold impressionistic style built on a foundation of solid drawing skills, Bortz's work strikes a balance of honest believability and fearless compositions. Making his home in Cody, Wyoming near the east entrance of Yellowstone National Park, Bortz has access to all the subjects he loves to observe and paint. Exploring the wild places of the Rocky Mountain West has provided Bortz with endless inspiration.
