Collection: Mark Boedges

Mark Boedges*
Mark Boedges has, in a remarkably short time, earned numerous awards and exhibited widely in galleries across the country. He attended the University of Colorado, where he studied Fine Art, but soon found himself drawn to a more traditional and immersive approach to painting. After two years, he left the program to devote himself entirely to studying from nature. Plein-air painting became his central focus, a discipline he pursued rigorously for many years.
Seeking eventually to bring greater intention and refinement to his work, Boedges transitioned into the studio, carrying with him a deep understanding of the landscape, particularly that of the American West. There, he began developing large, luminescent canvases that reflect his continued fascination with light. His recent work explores the personal and spiritual resonance of this light, using the landscape as a vehicle to express his sense of joy and wonder at the world we inhabit.
Boedges has been awarded Best in Show at the American Impressionist Society, Wayne Plein Air, Door County Plein Air, and the Scottsdale Salon of Fine Art. Additional honors include the Joseph Hartley Memorial Award from the Salmagundi Club in New York City, the Bohnert Memorial Award from the Hudson Valley Art Association, the Artistic Excellence Award from Southwest Art magazine, and the Grand Prize for Landscape from International Artist magazine, where his work was also featured in a dedicated article.
